Article Title: World’s longest cat–Stewie measures 4 feet.

Written By: Unknown

The author of this story, whom ever it is, writes to his public to tell us a little about the world’s longest cat. This cat named Stewie beat the world record of 48 inches by 1/2 an inch. Normally, cats are between 1 to 2.5 feet long on average. This cat truly is a gentle giant amongst the cats.

1. What did you learn today as you read that you did not know before? What surprised you? Explain why it surprised you.

What I learned today that I found completly amazing is the size of this little feline. Stewie is extremely long for a normal house cat. If this cat would have belonged to the wild, I would have found it completly normal, but this is just way to long for the proportions of the head and other body parts. Now my question is, do all Stewies have long body parts (Family Guy’s Stewie: Long head)? I’m just playing, it’s just a joke. (??)

This article shows us how beautiful and detailed mother nature really is. Even something with such a negative connotation as cancer has a wonderful side to it, even if it’s just the appearance. (Talk about not judging a book by its cover!) The authors of this article demonstrate to us a few of the details that are invisible to us, yet all around us.

1. What did you learn today as you read that you did not know before? What surprised you? Explain why it surprised you.

There really is not much to learn here other than the fact that even the most horrible things (like cancer) have a beautiful and enchanting side to it. It is overwhelming to know how much detail this world actually has. For instance, who knew that soy sauce crystals could form an image of a smiley face? Our world is so beautiful, yet very few of us come to acknowledgement of them.

Article Title: Ex-Secret Service Officer: I Almost Shot LBJ

Written By: Brett Michael Dykes

This article is brought to us by the author to inform us of a confession that Gerald Blaine has made in a book that he is about to publish. Blaine states in his book that after the JFK assassination, he had been guarding in his night-shift and almost shot the new President of the United States by accident. He had heard footsteps and thought that it was an intruder, so he had his gun already pointed directly to where his “suspect” was supposed to appear, and once he did he had to gain a lot of self-control to be able to resist firing the trigger.

4. Are any of the real life situations or people who you read about in your material for today similar to situations that you have experienced before in life? How were they similar? How were they different? What information surprised you?

I can connect to this incident in a way. No, I have not been right next to the fine border line to shoot someone, but I have been close to committing huge mistakes in my life multiple times. First of all, and I am ashamed to say this, I have been close to taking a life away, but it had been my own. Instead of self resistance as Blaine had, what had saved me from doing this was God’s hand. Also, I commonly mistake things for others, or misinterpret things. Just as Blaine had thought that there was an intruder in the area and right away reacted to that assumption, I have thought many times that someone has been trying to break into my house through my window since about five or six years ago someone jumped into our yard when my window  was opened and that scarred me a lot. What I find surprising about this article is that if Blaine would have pulled that trigger, there would have been a double presidential assassination. Instead of just being the JFK assassination, it would have been the JFK/LBJ assassination.
